Whiskey Kitchen & a Bourbon Cherry Bread Pudding – peace. love. quinoa

Jul 28

Last weekend after we hit up East Nashville we were dying to go vintage shopping. The locals kept telling us that vintage shops are closed on Sundays. epic #FAIL. They directed us instead to the Gulch neighborhood where they thought we’d find something cool to do. (we weren’t quite ready to get our Honky Tonk on at 12 o’clock noon.)
On our cab ride over, the rain started pouring down so the cabbie helped us find a bar that we could sit at until the rained stopped. He took us to Whiskey Kitchen.

Soooo…. just moments after our big brunch at Wild Cow, we were sitting at the bar with Bloody Mary’s and Bourbon Cherry Bread Pudding {with a side of Bourbon Burnt Sugar Ice Cream}. Second dessert of the day. I will never have the ability to share how delicious this dessert was (the Bloody Mary didn’t suck either).

Alright, here is what I loved about Whiskey Kitchen: EVERYTHING is made from scratch, in-house.
We were so super impressed by the dessert and Bloody Mary, that we went back to Whiskey Kitchen for dinner later in the week. I didn’t take photos because we were outdoor-patio-dining and enjoying our dinner/company. I’ll tell you what I had to eat though and I HIGHLY recommend you go to Whiskey Kitch and order EXACTLY WHAT I ORDERED.

Jalapeno Fried Pickles,
Tennessee Whiskey Yam Fries,
Fried Green Tomato BLT (minus the B)
.
Of course, I ordered that Burnt Sugar Ice Cream again, I couldn’t resist.

I read on Whiskey Kitchen’s website that they are Zagat rated as one of the Top 10 Hottest Places to Drink Whiskey Around the US, I didn’t have any whiskey there but I’ll agree that the place is HOT. {and very vegetarian-friendly!} Definitely the best recommendation I’ve ever gotten from a cabbie!

For the record, we eventually got our shopping on at an ADORABLE boutique in the Gulch, Two Old Hippies.
