Avoid preservatives & mystery ingredients by stewing your own tomatoes (instead of buying them in a can.)

Stewed Tomatoes

tomatoesStep 1: Gather 5-10 fresh tomatoes 

stew tomatoesStep 2: Peel the tomatoes by soaking them in boiling water for 1 minute then gently peel away skins (be careful! it’s hot.) dip in cool water.

stewed tomatoesStep 3: Chop and simmer on low heat for 10-20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add sea salt and agave nectar to taste. 

If you are using these stewed tomatoes in a chili recipe, begin adding your chili ingredients after stewing for 10 minutes.
